Mirror, Mirror on the wall

Stand in  front of the mirror. Open yourself up to yourself. Pull back all the layers of you and what is your core? What are you really made of? Take away what others have defined you to be. Step outside the box of others expectations and limitations.  The masquerade is over. Take off your mask of forced smiles. Remove ever trace of disappointment,  regrets, and sorrow.  Force every insult and negative thought to leave your mind. Open your eyes. Exhale. The reflection you see now is untainted. See yourself for the first time from your perspective. Now, fulfill your purpose and do you. After all, who can do you better? Again, I ask you, what are you really made of? Only time will tell. Nothing else stands in your way.

Power of a Woman

If only we knew our true power.
We are built with strong backs and soft hands.
We speak comfort with lips and conceive life between our hips.
We are extraordinary.
Before there was Martin and Malcolm
There was Harriet and Sojourner.
One leading us to freedom and one after we got there, declaring despite all the hardships and loss, I still bare my cross.
Having to work like a man
And although calloused, I still have a woman's hands.
Ain't I a woman?
We are a force to be reckoned with.
More powerful than we can comprehend.
Understanding we are often misunderstood. We carry generations in our wombs.
So full of life we release the pain of our unfertilized soil once a month.
Just a reminder of what we possess.
Our bodies are not meant just for sex.
Our lips speak life into our sons and daughters.
Our hands hold the potential of what is yet to come.
Our arms are the gateways to heavenly hugs.
Our waists are small to allow our lovers to wrap around us to remind us we are loved.
Our hips are wide to give way to the future that lies within our loins.
We are goddesses by design.
I pray this reminds you of who are.
A queen.

Haters

We all have them. They are the thorn in our side and also the motivation that drives us. HATERS! A hater can be classified as an individual that always has something negative to say about you no matter how talented you may really be. They will not give you the credit you deserve because deep down they wish they were you or had what you have. Without haters we  would not know if we are on point or not. If you are not being talked about then you should be worried. When people talk, consider it free publicity.  This is also true when it comes to relationships. People are either mad because of who you're with or just wish they were with you. Let them be mad and you just keep doing you. No one else can do it better.

Black Beauty

Black is beautiful.
Black is proud.
Say it loud.
I'm black and I'm proud.
Then he approaches me and says.
"You sure are cute for a dark skinned chick."
My smile slowly fades.
Trying to figure out when beauty was defined by shades.
My shade of black is a deep chocolate mocha.
Sprinkled with hints of rose in my cheeks when I smile.
Smooth cup of black coffee.
Guaranteed to keep you up, but I am more than a fantasy.
Imagine me, romantically.
Like a Hersheys kiss, I melt in you mouth and your hands.
My lovin' will have you speaking Creole from my native land.
My love overflows and is deep as a well.
Got you wondering what is that Voodoo that I do so well.
Not a witch doctor, but I'll nurse you to health.
Having my love will be the foundation of your wealth.
The fruits of other loins will always vary,
but there's nothing more sweeter than a chocolate strawberry.
They say the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice.
I say the blacker the berry the deeper the truth.
Don't define,my beauty by the shade of my complexion.
My beauty has many layers,
So it makes me more complex and
I'll never apologize for how my creator made me.
I was marinated in his essence, seasoned me with grace
and with sprinkle of sass he sauteed me.
And even with your ignorant comment
you still want to taste me.
Slide tongue between folds of chocolate
ripe pearl, and enjoy the flowing glaze me.
Yet your eyesight is so hazy.
I'm beginning to think you're crazy.
If you think that this young lady
will smile and say thank you.
Like soy sauce on some fries.
You and I know that's the wrong condiment.
Describing my beauty based on my hue.
Is definitely the wrong compliment.
But if I check you on it then I'm the cliche' black chick with an attitude.
So trying to validate myself is pointless since you lack the aptitude in understanding how to approach me.
I am beautiful because I am me.
Beautifully black because I am she.
I am black and beauty is me.

Dating

In this day and age, it is hard to find people who are actually dating. Dating, as in, boy meets girl. Boy asks girl out. Girl says yes. Boy and girl agree on a time for the date. Boy picks up girl..so on and so forth. People have adapted to bootycalls or first dates being at each others houses. Whatever happened to romance? Having dinner with someone and actually getting to know them? Dating is a lot like a job interview.  It gives you time to find out if this person peaks your interest and you want to know more. Assuming the end result of this exchange is to be in a monogomous relationship...or not. Not every candidate qualifies for the position. Think about it.  How many of us know someone who 'hooked up' with someone and now they have a child with them and the two of them can barely stand each other?   If they had slowed down and cooled off their hormones, they may have seen these traits way before children came into the picture. Now, don't get me wrong.  There are times you think you know someone and they switch it up on you.  Happens all the time. Just like an employer hiring someone for a position and they stop showing up to work.  There's always a risk involved, but if in the end we find our soul mate it is so worth it.   Let's get back to the basics!

Intimacy

Lying in your lovers arms. Snuggled up real close. Inhaling their scent. Lost in oblivion.  There's no safer place than in your lover's arms at night. Occasional kiss on the forehead to let you know how dear you are to them.  This is an example of true intimacy.  Meeting your lover in a moment of vulnerability and strength.  Allowing them to show you how safe your are and how loved you are, and you allowing yourself to just melt in their arms and be weakened by their charms just for a few moments in time.  Intimacy, in my opinion, is a lover showing me you are into me.  All the complex parts of me and vice versa.  Most times it is one-sided and one persons is left feeling foolish trying to intrigue their lover on another level.  Taking time to get to know your partner is the key. As years go by we all go through changes, but it's getting through those growing pains and growing together that keep you strong. Each moment of intimacy a long they way will keep your love life smoldering.

Stimulation

How can one describe the feeling of being intrigued? That moment of being intrigued so much mentally that it manifests physically. For example ladies, have you ever been so stimulated that you have literally climaxed without being touched? Sounds unbelievable, right?  Believe me it's possible.  Sensuality mixed with intellectual stimulation is a great recipe for the ultimate orgasm.  Arousal is more than physical. When you have a lover that stimulates you mentally, arouses you physical, and compliments you spiritually, you experience a climax that is out of this world!  I am talking, toes curling, I don't care if the neighbors hear, cause they damn sure gonna know your name, pillow biting, screaming orgasm.  Ladies, make sure your lover makes you cum intellectually and there will never be a problem being stimulated sexually.

Crumbs

Crumbs

If I were a flavor,
How would you describe me?
If my taste could be classified,
How would you describe me?
Tonight I have arranged a buffet
For you to completely indulge.
My personal experiment and my purpose
I cannot yet divulge.
My only instructions for you
Is to make sure you do not restrain.
All of your feedback is welcome
Cause it just means more for you to gain.
The only utensils you will need
Are your soft lips and your tongue
Occasionally your hands
And then you’re guaranteed to have some fun.
Your V-shaped entrée awaits
Between long legs and thick hips
You lean forward and pay homage
By gently kissing your plate with your lips.
Methodical laps of your tongue
Seem to make your plate come alive.
You devour your food with such vigor;
Your head moving back and forth between thighs.
Fingers slide in with such ease
And now laced with a clear sweet glaze.
You remove them and lick them slowly.
Your tongue swirling them like a maze.
Now back to the matter at hand
You resume partaking of your feast.
No longer eating like a gentleman.
You have definitely unleashed the beast.
I feel you may be getting thirsty
Because of how you curl my toes.
Flood gates are now open
And my sweet nectar begins to flow.
You say, “If you were a flavor,
I would describe as honey dripping from the sun.
If you were a taste, then I would define you as sweet caramel on a tongue.”
A smile creeps across my lips.
You begin licking and I become undone.
I ask you what you are doing
You say,” I don’t leave any crumbs.”

Touch Me, Tease Me

Touch is the most powerful of human sensual perception.  The impact of the right touch at the right time can be mind blowing.  Let me paint a picture.  Imagine you and your lover in an intimate setting and they lean over to kiss you, but just before they do, they glide their finger along your jaw line and glide their fingers across your lips just before they lean in with a sensual, yet intense kiss.  A kiss like that has more of an impact as opposed to them just leaning in and kissing you.  That extra touch makes all the difference.  Another example is when your significant other  places their hand at the small of your back.  The small of the back is truly an underestimated erogenous zone. That particular touch is a mutual exchange of tenderness and submission.  Even in a society where optical perception is so easily attained with half naked men and women on television screens or even locally in a club scene, that has nothing on the reality of touch.  We all want something we can feel. Tangible eroticism at it's best. Never underestimate the power of touch.

Lip Appeal

How would you define sexy lips?  Is it how full they are, or if they have the right amount of pout? Regardless of how you may classify sexy lips, the end curiosity is all the same: I wonder how those lips feel?  Lips play a  major role when it comes to expression.  An erotic kiss can tell your lover exactly how passionate you feel or how freaky you want to get.  Even when a man kisses your hand, it is an expression of tenderness and reverence. One of the most iconic men of our generation that helped put sexiness in lip appeal is of course, L.L. Cool J.  Every time he licked his lips, it made women all over the globe curious as to how he might use them.  Lips can send a surge of different emotions.  Lauryn Hill's lyrics, "The sweetest thing I've ever known was like the kiss on the collarbone, " is a true testament to the sensuality in lips. So, whether your lips are thick and juicy or then and tasty, just make sure you keep them sexy.

Harlem Nights

You are my renaissance man.
1920's cool.
The Hughes to my Langston
The hues to my blues.
Tears flow from my eyes
As the negro speaks of rivers and blue skies.
Wanting to be near you like Minnie, mooching off of your intellectual jazz and Calloway swag.
Fats Waller playing the ivories as I give you the keys to my heart at my own rent party.
Jazz filled sounds of trumpets, saxes, and trombones play legato notes on my intellect.
Each slurred note slaying me into a world of chromatic agony.
Knowing music is my weakness, I can't counteract with a harmonic.
Already too much dissonance in our love chord.
You made a Duke Ellington crescendo in my life giving me the weary blues.
A weary torment I will endure for a lifetime.
Your words are my jazz.
Your eyes are the blues to me.
But there's no place Id rather be
On a night like tonight in Harlem.

The Seduction in Anticipation

Have you ever wanted something so bad that it literally almost hurt? I'm talking about a yearning out of this world for something that you expect and already know to be amazing.  The wanting behind the anticipation is the seduction.  The untold that is  only discussed between two individuals via vibes.  Nonverbal communication at it's finest. The longer you wait the more you want it.  Sure, you can think about them later while daydreaming, but it's nothing like when they are actually in your presence. Just like champagne enhances the flavor of the strawberry; so does this person being near you enhance your desire.  The thought before the act is the greatest pleasure.  It is the purest form of foreplay.  Being mentally engaged will only make that actual physical reciprocation that much more intense.  Whether you anticipate the seduction or revel in the seduction of the anticipation, you are bound to be pleased.

Transparent

The surface holds so many first impressions.
An array of smeared happiness and contentment
to give a different perception and conceal the pain underneath.
What you see is not what you get.
Can't be transparent and elude from the persona that you are trying to give.
Insincere Smiles and laughs to hide the tears and rage.
Hoping that people just see you without seeing through you.
You've become so apparent that you can't even see you are transparent.
Lines are blurred by your attempt to live oblivious to the opaque nature of you
Your perception of yourself has now altered your reality of who you are.
Soul searching leaves you lost in translation from the different variations of who you envision.
Let people see you, because even when you think you're hiding,
we still see right through you.

Them There Eyes

Take me in with your seductive glance.
Your eyes take me to another world.
I lose myself in them and long to dwell
In your dark eyes with mahogany hues.
At times its hard to look at them
For fear of being lost forever.
Eyes that have a softness and wisdom
That is endearing to me.
They also have an intensity that
Sends a wave of temptation through my body.
Engaging and erotic, I have no choice but to fall.
I fall deeper and deeper into you ocular seduction.
I see my future in your eyes, a future of lovemaking
With my mind.
You touch and caress me with your eyes
You kiss and lick me with your eyes.
They make me weak.
No longer a superwoman
Them there eyes are my kryptonite and
I'll forever be weak to your charms

Matters of the Heart

The heart can be so fickle when it comes to love.  For some falling in love can be very easy, while for others it takes some time.  Emotional baggage makes it even harder to give another person access to our heart.  Timing seems to be an issue as well.  What is the exact amount of time appropriate to mourn the loss of the last relationship?  It really depends on the individual.  Although, jumping into a relationship with someone else right after a break up would not be wise.  This just leaves unresolved issues that will eventual resurface in the new one.  Taking time to fall back in love with you is key.  To be happy in any relationship, you have to first be happy with you.  Never expect someone to love you when you don't love yourself.  Surviving heartbreak is the hardest battle between the heart and mind.  Your mind knows it's over, but your heart accepting is takes much longer.  You'll know you've survived when you find yourself ready to love again.

One Sided Conversation

I say, "I adore you."
You say you don't care.
I say that I need you.
You say I'm not there.
I say, "You are the truth."
You say my love is based on a lie.
I say, "let's work through our problems."
You say you don't want to give it try.
I say,  I would do anything for you."
You say, "In that case, leave!
I sit in silence
As tears fall on my sleeve.
Sifting through images
Of our relationship past.
Trying to figure out
How our love couldn't last.
Tears dry with white streams stained on my face.
Taking in the silhouette of man
That can never be replaced.
I slowly turn and reach for the door
I say, "I love you," and like so many times passed,
my love gets ignored.

Swag Versus Attractiveness

Swagger is the new handsome.  How a man carries himself determines how attractive he is.  Gone are the days of superficial looks.  Sure, we still have the men who on the surface are quite handsome, but there is a new breed of man that understands that looks aren't everything.  Perfect example is rapper Lil Wayne.  I don't believe many women actually find him attractive on the surface, but he has a swagger through the roof!  Think about it, this is a man who has children by the beautiful Laura London and lovely R&B singer, Nivea.  Trust me, it wasn't his boyish good looks that did it.  There are some men who fall on the cusp between being attractive and swagger through the roof.  Denzel Washington is not the most attractive man in Hollywood, but he is attractive none the less, but his swagger definitely gives him more punch.  I am sure most ladies view Training Day, Denzel more sexy than John Q, Denzel.  In the 21st Century, swagger is everything.  How you carry yourself and the confidence and sex appeal you convey overshadows how good looking you may or may not be.  So from now don't get just get dressed up to make an impression; get swagged up!
